The University of Evansville was established in 1854 as Moores Hill Male and Female Collegiate Institution in Moores Hill, Indiana. The first building was completed in December of 1856. A second building, named Carnegie Hall after the main donor, Andrew Carnegie, was finished in June of 1908.
In March 1917, George Clifford presented at a session of the Indiana Conference of the Methodist Church and proposed moving Morres Hill College to Evansville, Indiana. In 1919, the school was renamed Evansville College. Then, in 1967, the college was renamed yet again the University of Evansville.
Over 2,900 students from 45 states and 46 countries call the University of Evansville home.
The University of Evansville has received recognition at a national level for its commitment to international education. It is ranked in the top five universities in the United States for study abroad programs. The University has a sister campus in Grantham, England—Harlaxton College. In addition to Harlaxton, UE students are currently studying in “Italy, England, New Zealand, France, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Israel, the Netherlands, and Australia.”

The perimeter of the main block of campus is about a mile altogether. You can get from one side of campus to the other in less than fifteen minutes; it’s difficult to be late to anything.
The Ridgway University Center opened in fall 2008 and houses several offices including Student Publications, WUEV (the radio station), Cafe Court, and the Student Life Suite. There is also a cafe, convenience store, and several lounges. Just across the street from it is the Carson Fitness Center, which offers a variety of classes and equipment for students who want to stay fit or get fit.
The University of Evansville in southern Indiana is a great little private college that hundreds of students call home.
